DVD Review – WWE True Giants

Welcome to my final WWE DVD review of the year, WWE True Giants! This DVD as the title suggests is about the heavyweight athletes that have literally shook the foundations of the WWE! This program will look and feel like 20 mini-biographies with each feature presented by just one person, giving it a more personal and in-depth look than a Countdown.

A 2 hour feature will have 20 mini-bios and full matches included as extras. Featured giants include Andre The Giant, Big Show, John Studd, Vader, King Kong Bundy, Diesel, Kamala, Gorilla Monsoon, Earthquake, and more!

The profiles were on the first disc of all the featured giants above and if you got the BluRay edition you also got the likes of Earthquake and Abdullah The Butcher! These profiles comprise of a history of course of the man and especially with the likes of Big Show who are still alive interviews with the men who told their story which I think is a nice touch compared to other sets who have the likes of Michael Cole telling the story! This gives the viewer an inside look into the whole story instead of just key segments in their career such as Big Show telling stories of WCW Power Plant and Floyd Mayweather and you get the other end of the spectrum with Patterson telling Gorilla Monsoons story due to the fact he passed away! It’s good that the people that unfortunately passed away were still included on the DVD with the stories by some of their best friends instead of like other DVDs where they are told by WWE superstars who watched them growing up!

This DVD has both past giants such as Giant Gonzales and present giants such as Big Show and The Great Khali which gives a bit of a timeline of the history of giants in Wrestling as it has both aspects

The main feature delivers what it needs to and that is as a showcase of the biggest and strongest talents in Wrestling history and is in my opinion worthy of being the final title to be released this year!

Disc 2 and 3 as you might expect has matches from all the giants featured on the first feature and for someone buying this that’s not familiar with some of the giants it is great to visit some matches and get a feel for some of the giants that you might not know of before this release and also revisit some matches from modern day giants such as the Big Show!

Rating 3/5 – Not WWE’s best release this year by a mile but delivers on what it sets out to and that is to profile giants that have made a Mark in WWE which makes this a good end to WWE Home Videos releases this year and gives a good collection on the side of matches that are in the library featuring these men!
