DVD Review – WWE Night of Champions 2015

nightofchampions.jpg

Welcome to my latest WWE DVD review, today I take a look at Night of Champions 2015, this was released last weekend but due to the discs not being sent out it has been put forward which means first of all that the Undertaker set review will be this weekend followed by Owen Hart : Hart of Gold the next weekend! Now on with the review!!

This show is meant to pit all of the champions with all the titles on the line against challengers of course so I cannot argue about certain wrestlers being on the show as such as WWE alot of the time get their choice of champions spot on.

Kevin Owens takes on Ryback in the first contest of the night in a match pitting one of the biggest breakout stars of the past year and someone who I have been a fan of for many years in Kevin Owens against Ryback someone who I’m glad like Bray Wyatt they repackaged into this beast. Dolph Ziggler vs Rusev was next with both men seeming stale to me at this point in the year, don’t know what it is about these two but by the end of each year they seem to fall off their high standard and this match was an example of this with it not being a match of the year like Kevin Owens has a lot but just an alright encounter that serves as a good lower midcard bout.  Dudley Boyz vs The New Day was next up and was a contrast to the previous bout as it was great tag team encounter, always loved the Dudley Boyz since their days in ECW and The New Day are my favorite tag team right now due to their comedy mostly so this as a combination is great and really adds to proceedings than just a match that includes for example Los Matadores vs The New Day vs Cesaro & Tyson Kidd for example on the pre-show and the fact they are both credible tag teams means that they make it into the main show as opposed to the pre-show. A table adds to the mix which is good and really caps off a good match.

Next of all we had Nikki Bella vs Charlotte, Nikki ended her 301 day reign by losing by submission of course throughout the match this was emphasized. This was a great match and back to the quality that I like from the WWE Divas Division when they get it right. Now Nikki is out with a neck injury we will hopefully see more divas stepping up to challenge Charlotte. On the subject of Charlotte, I am in the camp of being a Charlotte fan I really think that she has worked her way up and is worthy of this shot, i’m more of a Becky Lynch fan and have gone off Paige but Charlotte is up there in my opinion.

The Wyatt Family took on Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and special guest due to Braun Strowman being part of the match Chris Jericho, i have always been a Jericho advocate and he has even plugged my blog before but this was just another Jericho return which will occur again and the ending was not needed but there you go I may not like certain parts but that is my opinion. A bit of a waste to bring Jericho back for a feud he has not been part of but there you go!

John Cena defeated Seth Rollins to win the US Champion before of course losing it to Alberto Del Rio at the next PPV but this match was the usual workhorse match from Cena who put in 100% to make it a high quality encounter especially considering that Rollins was on following this against Sting. Was great to see Cena win and it got the crowd going again before the main event.

Going onto the main event, Seth Rollins took on Sting which was a good match but the injury Sting suffered made this a tough watch as if we don’t see Sting again in a ring we will always know that his final match was due to an injury!

Rating 7/10 – A good return to form for WWE in terms of PPV’s, one I watched on Saturday and just enjoyed watching throughout. I am looking forward to the Owen Hart documentary reviewed next week as I think it will be one of the best they have produced this year.
